The Greek island of Lesvos is one of the richest gastronomic crossroads in the country, bearing cultural traces in all its the flavors. It is an island where the quality of the primary ingredients comes first, where seasonal is key and passion for local tastes continuously raises the standards of the Mediterranean diet.
With its attention on meze, ouzo and good company, the island will be hosting the Second Lesvos Food Fest this summer in each one of its regions. The logo of Lesvos Food Fest shows the essence of the event as well as the culinary identity of the island: a sardine, anise and an olive.
During a 10-day period, starting as from July 5, the Lesvos Food Fest intends to promote the culinary customs, traditions and products of each region, putting an emphasis on the geographical and uniqueness of each location. Some of the planned events include a presentation of trachana, its preparation process and also about local sweets. These will be held in Lafiona, northern Lesvos, surrounded by the magical background of the Aegean sea.

Music and dancing will follow.
Eressos, on the west part of the island, takes visitors on a journey from the past until the present day with musical and local flavors. Guitars and songs will provide the frame for a trip back to nostalgic times on the beach of Skala Eressos while enjoying watermelon and the local cheese, touloumotyri. Also, haute cuisine dishes will be created using the famous local figs. An Eressos-style breakfast, made with local products, will be offered by collaborating companies.
